The Remarkable Truth Behind Psalm 23

By Anne Trimble

When I think back on all the challenges I've encountered in this life, I feel a wave of gratitude for Psalm 23 because it carried me across troubled waters when all seemed lost. It helped me realize that I was not alone in my despair, and that I could lean on something greater than my taxed resources.

Below is the King James Variation:

The LORD Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

My Journey Of Faith

After much hard work, I appeared to have everything-- a loving spouse, terrific kids, and a renowned Ministry. Then simply when it seemed that my life was at its zenith, every little thing turned around and headed south. I was betrayed by a trusted partner and lost all my income and the loyalty of my peers.

What was particularly heartbreaking was that I was a small town girl and none of the success I had earned came easily. It took a huge amount of effort to become the founder of one of the most influential Christian organizations in the United States. Yet while it took me years to achieve this success, it only took a short while for me to lose it all. I not only lost my Ministry, but my husband lost his health. Eventually, the collapse even cost us our marriage.

But that's not the end of the story because now I have recovered from all my losses and work as CEO of Real Money USA, a highly effective financial company that helps Americans protect their assets and possessions through buying gold and silver rather than depending on our fiat currency which is losing its value at a dramatic rate.

What is my secret of success? How did I come out of the wreck alright?

In one word: Faith.

Restored faith gave me the courage to continue, to persevere in the face of all obstacles that would have been enough to crush anyone's spirit. Reading Psalm 23 to myself as well as to my children strengthened my belief in a brighter future despite how grim thinks looked.

God has a plan for you and me and even when things seem the most desperate, He does not leave our side. It is when we feel most hopeless, when death itself seems like some sort of reprieve, that we need to remember His Word; and by remembering it, we're strengthened and made whole once again. Psalm 23 is His Word and it will carry you through troubled times, even if you're in the midst of an awful calamity. Bring to mind the words over and over; a calm spirit will embrace you, and you will understand that you are not alone and never have been.
