Important Tips On Structural Web

By Tiffany Gill

The structural web process is a process that is used in production of plastic parts. Glass assist as it is also known works through the injection of low amounts of pressure to the hollow parts. Through this injection, the parts produced tend to have varying degrees of thickness that are not only superior in terms of design, but also very reliable.

Resin is first injected in to the products. Once this has been completed, the nitrogen gas will then be injected. The main purpose of the injected gas is to help push the molten plastic out of the cavity walls.

Nitrogen gas introduction and injection is meant to help it follow the path of least resistance. In following the path of least resistance, it will enable the designers to work with the plastics in any way they would like. This flexibility is very important.

Glass assist technology has opened a lot of possibilities for manufacturers and all the people who use plastic in different capacities. Limitations that were previously present in other forms of molding have also been done away with. New possibilities are also present.

Very many benefits are present when it comes to this technology. Weight reduction is a huge benefit that has seen the overall weight of all plastic parts reduced by up to thirty percent of their initial weight. This has happened without products losing their structural integrity in any way. It is therefore a plus for all manufacturers.

Large size products are now easier to manufacture through the combination of many smaller parts. Smaller parts are beneficial in that it reduces the amount of money associated with the production process. Efficiency is also highly increased through the use of many smaller products to come up with one large product.

Appearance wise, glass assist has been very good as well. Plastic products made using this technology are not only efficient, but also better looking. They all come with a smooth exterior and an even glossier finish. This finishing is all thanks to the low pressure technology that has been utilised.

In normal high pressure injection, manufacturers get to encounter very many limitations especially when it comes to parts that can and those that cannot be produced. Glass assist has made it possible to use different types of additives and resins. High quality resins can easily be added in to the manufacturing process.

Designers now find it easier to apply color and texture to products. In previous cases, the issue of texture was a big concern as many resources were utilised when producing the products. Less color products are used which also means that resources and money is now saved.

Less energy is consumed using structural web process. This is partly due to the low pressure that has been used during manufacturing and production of the plastic parts. Fewer materials are used in manufacture but this does not affect the end product in any way. This is highly important to manufacturers.
