Guide In Choosing Magazines For Tween Girls

By Young Lindsay

It is really important to know what you can get from various reading materials before you would decide on buying them if they are for sale. Regardless if it is meant for entertainment or education, what matters is that it would be appropriate and would match with the person reading it. Books and other reading materials have been the primary source for knowledge and has evolved into various forms of media already.

Magazines have been around since the 1600s in Germany and the first ones in America was published during the mid 1700s. But media today has been dissecting and categorizing magazines as much as possible into age groups, demographics, locality, etc. Magazines for tween girls who are around eight to fourteen years old are now being published.

Due to the views in society and the problems and issues that most teenagers are facing, it has become difficult for them to acquire the best materials and experiences for their growth. Parents should also be very observant and picky with which materials they are reading. This is in order to provide them with appropriate and timely education and knowledge.

This magazine can actually still be divided into further different categories, this provides teenagers more focused topics on what they want to read. This includes education, sports, general interests, and specific target for boys and girls. These kinds of mags can be bought anywhere in convenience stores and online for subscriptions or single purchase.

It is quite tricky and takes more effort to figure out which of those tons of magazine titles are suitable to read and that gives enough contents in all aspects. As parents, you can read them one by one and figure them out yourself since many of these can be very different from each other even with the same target audience. As teenagers, it should hold entertainment value and while doing so, providing enough information, knowledge and techniques on everyday stuff.

This takes a long time of research to find the best magazine and to commit on subscribing to one if needed, so ask for recommendations from either your friends or other relatives and find out what can they give. Look up what you can see from reviews as well, because those people have already done their own research, too. Know the issues you have and know the issues of your children, too, so you can base your choice.

Before deciding on a serialization, you have to test it out if your kids like it. Of course, part of it is evaluating it for yourself, next would be getting feedback from your kids. You can then decide after this. Try to be careful since some magazines are too closely dissected that there are some that only targets high schoolers or only middle schoolers.

There are a lot of drawbacks to magazines as opposed to technical books and other types of books. Magazines can most of the time provide perspective that can be harmful to your children in terms of body image and interpersonal relationships. So it is best to give them other reading materials that can make them well rounded and have a wider perspective of life and the world.

All in all, the benefit for this is reading in itself. These ages are the most susceptible to information and experimentation. Guiding them with the right kind of materials would be the determining factor for their growth and upbringing.
